Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan, October 2nd, 2015 - TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd. (Head Office: 1083 Tsuneishi, Numakuma-cho, Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan; President: Kenji Kawano) announced that its subsidiary in Paraguay, ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY S.A., completed on September 22nd, 2015 the construction and delivery of its first 6,000-HP shallow-draft pusher boat equipped with 4 main engines and 4 propeller shafts that realizes the stable transportation of heavy cargo.
The delivered pusher boat is designed with a 1.83-meter draft, which is a 39% reduction from the standard 3-meter draft, to enable navigation in shallow rivers. The boat also has high maneuverability, with the living quarters jutting out towards the front and outfitted entirely in glass on its bow side, so that the person navigating the boat can visibly check the push and pull of the barge. In addition, rubber cushions have also been placed across the entire area separating the living quarters and deck, for the purpose of reducing noise and enhancing the living environment for the crew.
ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY S.A. realized the construction of its first powered ship by utilizing the shipbuilding technologies that it has nurtured through the continuous construction of barges since 2012, as well as by improving its skills through technical guidance received by instructors sent in from TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd. and TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSRIES (CEBU), Inc. “Caesar Primo”, named its pusher boat is scheduled for use mainly in Paraguay for river transport of grains and iron ores along the Parana and Paraguay Rivers.
ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY S.A., will work together with TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and other Group companies to provide the market with high-quality barges and pusher boats that support the demand for river transport arising from the increased economic development in the South American region.
